The primary industries in which we have invested to date include business services, communications technology and services, consumer, education, energy, financial technology and services, healthcare and life sciences, industrial, Internet and new media, semiconductors and electronics, and software.

At Summit Partners, we believe that great companies are built by great management teams—not by investors. We partner with proven teams, serving as active board members experienced in guiding companies through growth stages. We advise on board and management recruiting, geographic expansion, acquisitions, revenue enhancement, operations and logistics, key performance indicators, financial reporting and management systems. Our role varies depending on the unique needs and capabilities of each company.
 
Appropriate Use of Equity and Credit 
We offer equity and credit options to support a company’s continued growth—from shareholder liquidity to recapitalizations and management buyouts. In some situations, we choose to structure equity investments with no debt if interest and principal payments might constrain a company’s ability to grow. In other situations, Summit Partners offers credit investments—either stand-alone or in conjunction with equity—that can serve as a critical part of a company’s balance sheet to execute on a growth strategy.

Flexible Investment Size
Summit Partners is flexible on financing terms and makes certain that investor and company interests are aligned. We can invest from $5 million to more than $500 million per company in combined equity and credit. We can also address the borrowing needs of small and middle-market companies with stand-alone credit investments ranging from $5 million to more than $100 million. Although we will invest in partnership with others, Summit Partners prefers to be the lead—and is often the sole—investor. We are currently investing more than $9 billion worldwide in capital.
